Termas El Jabalí

Going to a spa isn’t just about indulging yourself — it’s about healing. The roots of bathing culture begin with the ancient Greeks and Romans, who understood the therapeutic benefits of immersing in water every day. These practices had both a practical and a metaphysical purpose: restoring the body and making one feel alive.

Today, this same kind of healing could not be more relevant to our time. Our world is frenetic, loud, and exhausting. Our senses are overloaded and we are constantly on high alert. Technology has given us many freedoms — the ability to work remotely and to connect with distant cultures — but it has also accelerated our lives and left us with very little time for ourselves.

Now more than ever, there is an urgent desire to disconnect and unwind from the chaos of life. Our proposal for Termas El Jabalí seeks to offer this experience. We studied a series of historical precedents and learned from them architecturally in our pursuit of crafting immersion rituals that flood the body with unfamiliar, even unsettling, sounds, scents, and textures, forcing us to be present and aware.
